  • Step 1: Never camp on a suspected leak with your meter.
  • Step 2: Start your meter outside and let it self-zero before entering the residence.
  • Step 3: If your meter notifies of refrigerant- go back outside and let it zero.
  • Step 4: Shut off the HVAC System- making sure the blower is not running.
  • Step 5: Go to the indoor evaporator.
  • Step 6: Remove the condensate drain fitting.
  • Step 7: If it picks up refrigerant- remove it and let it zero.
